Getting Started

About Children's Triathlon in London

Triathlon is a multi-sport consisting of swimming, cycling and running. Races are continuous with no break between the three disciplines. There are also other multisport events to take part in: aquathlon which is a swim-run run format and duathlon where you run-bike-run.

How to get involved

You can go along to a local event (check our the Calendar) and either watch or have a go. If you want to take part you may need to enter before the day. If you decide to enter the event you will be given full instructions in the race information pack

A great way to learn about the sport and get some coaching is to join your nearest club. Make sure you get in touch with the club contact to let them know you are coming along to a training session. Note not all clubs cater for juniors so please check they cater for people your age.

Kit

When you're starting out in the sport you don't need much equipment;

1. Swim: swimsuit & goggles
2. Bike: any bike (in good working order) & cycle helmet
3. Run: trainers, t-shirt & shorts

Junior Series

Each region nationally hosts a junior series set of races. The exact make-up of the races depends on the races which the clubs and / or individuals run each year. The races are independent of Triathlon England or Triathlon London per se, but we work together to gather the results so we can create the excitement of a league for the participating children. The series is historically 10 events, 3 triathlons, 3 duathlons and 4 aquathlons, but this can vary depending on what races the clubs / individuals are able to offer each year. Equally it is not expected that the children race in every event. We work with other regions to co-ordinate our races as best we can, but sometimes this is beyond our control. For more details on the series, check out the series page.
