Junior Series 2017

This 2017 series is open to all juniors who are a member of a London club or reside in a London Borough.

2017 Series

The London series is made up of 9 races; 3 triathlons, 3 duathlons and 3 aquathlons. Children who compete in any of these races score a number of points based on their time. The overall Series ranking is based on the 2 best triathlon scores (1,000 point races), best aquathlon score & best duathlon score (500 point races). The maximum score therefore is 3,000 points (through winning 2 triathlons, 1 duathlon and 1 aquathlon)  - see below for Series details and how points are calculated.

Trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed finishers in the Series will be awarded at the End-of-Season Awards. (Note to qualify for an award an athlete must have completed the minimum number of qualifying events - 2 triathlons, 1 aquathlon & 1 duathlon).

See the PAST RESULTS page to access the complete set of scores and reports for the London Junior Series over recent years.

Points Scoring

London Region Series Races are grouped into triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons. Scores are calculated in usual way (i.e. relative to the first London finisher), but Triathlons given greater weighting:

  • Triathlons: based on a maximum of 1,000points (as used to previously)
  • Duathlons / Aquathlons: based on maximum of 500points

The score for each individual in the series are is based on the cumulative points from:

-  the best 2 triathlon scores

+ the best 1 duathlon score

+ the best 1 aquathlon score

So the maximum series points available for an individual is 3,000 (1,000 + 1,000 + 500 + 500).

All athletes are awarded points based on a percentage of the 1st London athlete time for their category, and the number of points available for the type of event. Triathlons are based on 1,000 points for the leading London athlete, and aquathlons/duathlons on 500points.

e.g. First London athlete in a triathlon finishes is 20 minutes and gets 1000 points. Second London athlete is 22 minutes gets 909 points. (20/22 x 1000 = 909) and so on.
