London Fields Aquathlon 22nd September - Race Report

Published:

The final London League race was on Sunday - read on for the full race report!

Sunday saw London Fields Lido play host the 12th and final race of the 2019 London League season. Despite a forecast of heavy rain and thunder, the weather stayed good for the London Fields Tri Club organised aquathlon, with only intermittent light rain providing the 111 racers with near perfect conditions for the 400m pool swim and 5km 5-lap run event.

In the individual age-group competitions, Susan Fairfax (Crystal Palace Tri) took first in the Women's race in 28:48 followed by Anna Lawson (Serpentine) in second and Natalie Ruffell (Clapham Chasers) in third. Home racer Greg Divall (LFTC) took the Men's title in 24:23 closely followed by Zac Purnell (Crystal Palace Tri)  in second and Euan Lees (Ful-on Tri) in third.

In the Team competitions host club London Fields took the Men's and Mob Match top honours, with Ful-On Tri taking first place in the Women's and Mixed competitions. (all results provisional subject to final confirmation).

Thanks to London Fields TC for a great race with a great selection of homemade cakes at the finish line!! The racing has now finished for 2019 so many thanks to all organisers and racers for another fantastic season.  Final Team and Age-Group results will be confirmed in the next few days in readiness for the London League Awards Presentation in November.  More details to follow so keep an eye out for the when and where for this traditional end of season celebration of the London League.  Have a good winter break and let's do it all again in 2020.
