Published:

The London League kicked off on Sunday 29th April with the Kingfisher Aquathlon.

The sun might not have been shining but spirits were high on Sunday as the Kingfisher Aquathlon kicked off the 2018 London League series. The long running early season favourite saw 171 athletes tackle the 400m pool swim and 4-lap 9km trail run at Morden Park.

In the Team events Optima Racing Team took the Women's race with London Fields TC taking the Men's. Optima RT also took Mixed Team honours and South London Harriers TC had most athletes racing to take the Mob Match honours.

In the individual competition overall honours in the Men's went to Gary Laybourne (SLH), followed by Euan Lees (Ful-on tri), with Matthew Stevens (London Fields TC) in 3rd. First Woman home was SA Olympian Gillian Sanders (Optima RT), with Hollie Hindley (Optima RT) next and Erica Fogg in 3rd  (all results provisional subject to final confirmation).

Shout out to Maarten and his team for another great event, next stop Hampton Pool in just over a week for the Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon.
