London League 2018: Round 5 Total Motion aquathlon hosted by Clapham Chasers

Published:

No rest for the London League this weekend as the series moved to a Saturday at another gem of a London venue, Tooting Bec Lido.

Glorious sunshine and perfect conditions greeted over 150 athletes for the 810m pool swim, and 7.3km 3-lap run aquathlon, a great event for first-timers and seasoned racers alike.

In the individual competitions, overall honours in the Women's race went to Katie Curd (Tri London) in 43:57, followed by Jessica Thorpe (unattached) in second and Susan Fairfax (Crystal Palace Tri) in third.  In the Men's race, honours went to Haukur Heimisson (Ful-on Tri) going sub-40 in 39:30, with Euan Lees (Ful-on Tri) in second and Martin Rutter (Clapham Chasers) in third  (all results provisional subject to final confirmation).

In the Team events the hosts Clapham Chasers took the Men's honours with three finishers in the top 5 and in the Women's race it was Ful-on Tri who took top spot.  Ful-on Tri also took the win in the Mixed Team event and Mob match honours went to Clapham Chasers with over 20 club members racers.

Congratulations to everyone at Total Motion and Clapham Chasers for putting on a great event in a great venue.  After a hectic start the League takes a short break until mid-June when it travels east to The Bridge Triathlon in Dartford.
