London League 2018: Round 6 The Bridge Standard Open Water

Published:

The action headed east on Sunday 17th June for Race 6 in the London League series in Dartford at The Bridge Standard Distance Triathlon.

Blustery conditions greeted nearly 120 competitors for the 10th Anniversary of the event in the shadow of the QE Bridge.  With a whole host of distances and formats throughout the morning, it was the League olympic distance race that kicked-off proceedings at 6:30am over the 1500m lake swim, 42km 7-lap bike and 10km 3-lap run course.

In the individual competitions, overall honours in the Women's race went to Sophie Kirk (Ful-on Tri) in 2:19:55, followed by Hilary Davies Thorpe (Kingfisher) in second and Teresa Willcox (Thames Turbo) in third.  In the Men's race, honours went to Tim Lynch (Loughborough Students) in 2:02:38, with Matthew Lawes (Crystal Palace) in second and Richard Bull (Clapham Chasers) in third  (all results provisional subject to final confirmation).

In the Team events London Fields took the Men's honours and in the Women's race it was Crystal Palace who took top spot.  Crystal Palace also took the win in the Mixed Team event and Mob match honours were shared between Crystal Palace and Thames Turbo.

Congratulations to everyone at Bridge Events for putting on a great 10th Anniversary event.  Next Sunday the League moves to Brockwell Park lido for Race 7 and the ever popular Windrush Aquathlon.
