Cake, a parkland run and an Olympian triathlete in the field, what's not to like?
The London Marathon wasn’t the only race in town on Sunday 23 April, as swim-runners headed to Morden for the long-running Kingfisher Aquathlon, hosted by Kingfisher Triathletes. This was Race 2 in the VONCRANK London League and 136 adults finished the 400m pool swim and 9km multi-lap trail run in cool but near perfect conditions.
This is a popular event amongst London clubs and Thames Turbo TC, Ful-on Tri Club, Optima Racing Team, Clapham Chasers and Wimbledon Windmilers all fielded at least 9 club members to contest the 3 team competitions; mixed team, male team and the female team.
There were some really strong performances and the provisional team podiums are:

The mixed team competition was won by Optima Racing Team and the Mob match was won by Thames Turbo TC.
The individual honours in the Open Men went to Archie St Aubyn (Optima Racing Team), with James Ellis (Ful-on Tri Club) second and Euan Lees (Ful-on Tri Club) third. In the Open Women it was an Optima Racing Team clean-sweep with South African Olympian Gillian Sanders first, with Jess Wenlock second and Jennifer Silva third.
The Saddledrunk London League Vests were won by the winners of the +40 category; Christophe Desroy and Sophie Biggs (Thames Turbo). Details on the Saddledrunk awards check HERE
The next races in the VONCRANK London League are The Total Motion Aquathlon at Tooting Bec Lido (29 April,) followed by the Thames Turbo Triathlon 48 hours later (1 May).
