It was a Bank holiday weekend - so part 2 of the VONCRANK London League double header
After the debut Tooting Bec aquathlon 48hrs earlier, it was back on familiar ground as Race 4 of the VONCRANK London League saw over 400 competitors line-up for the long established Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon at Hampton Pool on Bank Holiday Monday (1 May 2017).
As the first scoring triathlon in the 2017 London League, the racing was always going to be intense over the 426m swim/20km bike/5km run and so it proved to be as 13 age-groupers went below 1 hour chasing those all-important league points.
In the Team competitions, Optima Racing Team (3rd, 4th and 6th) took the Men’s first place with Ful-on Tri second (8th, 15th and 30th), just edging out hosts Thames Turbo who took third (9th, 22nd and 25th). For the Women it was again Optima Racing Team (28th, 44th and 68th) in first followed by Ful-on Tri (55th, 60th and 119th) then Thames Turbo (82nd, 180th and 184th). Taking first place in the Mixed by some way was Optima Racing Team with Clapham Chasers first in the Mob Match with an impressive 37 racers (all results subject to confirmation).
