Yesterday, almost 300 Great Britain Age-Group Team athletes took to the start line in the ITU Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships celebrating 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in Chicago.
The ITU Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships rounded off the age-group racing at the ITU World Triathlon Grand final in Chicago and another successful championships for the Great Britain Age-Group Team.

What did the Great Britain Age-Group Team think of Chicago?
Karen Lennox (35-39) who finished with a time of 02:17.59 commented: “Chicago is lovely, there is really good support out there from GB.”
Simon Needle (30-34) from Serpentine Running Club finished in 02:10.42 loved the iconic settling of this year’s Grand Final adding: “It’s my second season doing the GB age-group races, I was in Canada last year. This is a brilliant setting, with the fountain and the backdrop of the city in the background with really good support on the course.”
BBC Breakfast presenter, Louise Minchin was making her debut in the Great Britain Age-Group Team, adding: “It was the best and the absolute worst thing I have ever done in my life. I loved everything, the run was really, really, really tough, it was like I had never done any running in my life. I have had the most incredible support out on the course, I am really lucky. It has been an incredible experience, I will never forget.”
Nicola Kaye (35-39) also from Serpentine Running Club finished in 02:35.37 adding: “It’s great to be out in Chicago, it’s a fabulous city to race in, and the crowd support has been incredible, particularly from all the GB supporters. A big shout out to all the volunteers here including the medical staff. The crowd support on the run was incredible and really helped get me to the end.”
