2022 Arena Games Triathlon Series Munich powered by Zwift

In the first of three events which will decide the first ever esports triathlon world champions, Beth Potter got her series off to the perfect start, dominating every discipline across the three-stage final.

Starting the final stage pursuit with over a minute advantage after the opening two stages, Potter continued to extend her lead during the final 200m swim, 4km bike and 1km run.

Potter crossed the line 90 seconds ahead of the German pair of Lena Meissner and Anabel Knoll to repeat her victory from Arena Games London last year.

“That was good, it was fun,” Potter said. “On the last run I wanted to see how hard I could go and see if the wheels came off. It was hard but I enjoyed it. I didn't think this was a format I would be good at, so I am very happy to come here and win again.”

In the men’s race, Olympic gold and silver medallist Alex Yee started his 2022 season with a sixth-place finish. Yee had battled back from a deficit on the stage one bike to put himself back in the mix but started the final stage 13 seconds back and finished 27 seconds behind winner Aurelien Raphael of France.

Gordon Benson, who experienced technical problems with his treadmill in stage one, crossed the line 10 seconds and one place behind Yee.

Arena Games Triathlon powered by Zwift now heads to London (23 April) before the Grand Final in Singapore (7 May).
