Sarasota ITU Paratriathlon World Cup

World and Paralympic Champion, Andy Lewis, made the trip to Florida to extend his season having missed a block in the middle of it due to an accident. It was an opportunity to try new blade and bike set ups, but the chance to try a non wetsuit swim became impossible due to high levels of algae in the water. The race was changed to a sprint duathlon and Andy’s superior run speed on the first 2.5km set him up for another win.

He said: “Well a brief breakdown of my race, hot, hot, hot, that’s all. I’ve never experienced anything like it, 32C and 98% humidity. Great experience.”

Sarasota ITU Triathlon World Cup

Saturday’s women’s race took place over the standard distance before the heat rose again and the men’s race was changed to a sprint on Sunday. Like the paratriathlon, both events were changed to duathlons. Jenny Manners was unfortunately lapped out of the women’s race, which was won by Juri Ide of Japan.

The men’s race was won by Rodrigo Gonzalez of Mexico with Britain’s Iestyn Harrett in 14th place in a strong field and James Teagle 27th.

Melilla ETU Triathlon European Cup Final

Liam Lloyd and Chris Perham both finished inside the top ten in Melilla, Spain. Lloyd’s seventh place was another really solid result at the end of a successful season where he hopes to have demonstrated his ability to the Team Wales selectors for April’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. Perham was tenth and Harry Leleu 17th.

Melilla ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup

Seventeen-year-old Kate Gallagher achieved her best international result to date with seventh in the junior women’s event. Fellow Scottish Triathlete, Cameron Main, was 13th in the junior men’s event.
