Athletes added to the British Triathlon World Class Performance Programme

Published:

British Triathlon has added athletes to its UK Sport World Class Performance Programme for 2022 on the back of the IPC’s announcement of the inclusion of additional classifications for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Hannah Moore and Andy Lewis will be included on the programme after their classifications were included in the schedule for Paris, whilst Luke Pollard and Hazel Macleod have been named as guides for the programme.

Moore, who won the world title in the PTS4 category in 2019, will retain her place on the programme with the aim of competing against the world’s best in the category in 2024.

Paralympic 2016 champion, Lewis, is returning to the programme after the re-inclusion of his PTS2 classification in the Games.

Pollard and MacLeod will continue to work with the programme as guides with both having competed at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Pollard guides for Dave Ellis and together they won the world title at the Abu Dhabi World Championships in November.

MacLeod, who won silver at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, worked with Melissa Reid at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and will remain on the programme to guide Alison Peasgood in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games.

Jonathon Riall, Head of Paralympic Programme, said: “We’re really pleased to announce these athletes on the programme for next year. Having the new classifications for Paris 2024 confirmed has meant that we can extend our programme and provide more opportunities to other athletes.

“We have another big year coming up with the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships, and I look forward to seeing the team refocus and put in some excellent performances throughout the year.”
