Bidding is now underway for hosting 2022 Home Nation Championships, British Age-Group Championships and Great Britain Age-Group Team qualifying races.
British Triathlon are now welcoming bids from permitted event organisers to host these events for the forthcoming 2022 season. The Home Nation’s and British Triathlon’s programme of Age-Group Major Events encompass British and National Championship events as well as Great Britain Age-Group Team Qualifiers.
British Triathlon and the Home Nations are keen to encourage Event Organisers of all sizes who permit their events through the Home Nation Associations, to consider submitting bids to host these events.
Excitingly, there are two new event bidding opportunities available for 2022, Middle Distance Duathlon (Draft-illegal) and Standard Distance Aquabike. It is hoped these new qualifier opportunities will not only encourage more athletes to become part of the Age-Group team but that they may also appeal to new event organisers who have not previously bid for Age-Group Major Events.
There are a number of benefits to hosting an Age-Group Major Event, including enhanced publicity, greater national prestige through being part of the British Triathlon Major Events Calendar, increased appeal to potential sponsors, growth of participant numbers and a greater chance of national recognition.
The events that are now open for bidding include a variety of distances and disciplines within swim, bike, run and will comprise of British Championships, English National Championships, Welsh National Championships and 2022 World and European Age-Group Qualifiers.
More bidding opportunities will open later in the year, including the British Elite Championship races and British Paratriathlon Championship with more information to follow soon.
Bidding will close at midday on Monday 30 August 2021. All bids must be completed through the online form on the button below. For any questions regarding the bidding process, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline or see the guidance document.
