The shortlist for the first Global Triathlon Awards has been announced, with a number of Brits included ahead of the star-studded night at the Palais de la Mediterranee in Nice in January.

The Best Male and Female Triathlete award categories see both short and long course athletes come together. In the male category, Alex Yee has been shortlisted alongside Hayden Wilde, Matt Hauser, Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden. Whilst, in the female category, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Lucy Charles-Barclay are joined by Flora Duffy, Chelsea Sodaro and Ashleigh Gentle.

The Rookie of the Year category features Commonwealth Games Champion, Katie Crowhurst, and U23 World Champion, Connor Bentley, alongside Sam Laidlow, Chelsea Sodaro and Kenji Nener.

As well as athletes being honoured at the ceremony, businesses and individuals who play a central role in the sport have also been shortlisted.

Among these is British Triathlon’s Non-Executive Director for Age-Group Teams, Nicky Dick, who has been nominated in the Outstanding Contributor category.

Also nominated are On Running, British Triathlon’s Official Footwear Supplier, whose Cloudmonster trainer has been shortlisted for the Best Run Product.

The event, which is supported by World Triathlon, Super League and the Professional Triathletes Organisation, will be hosted by Will McCloy and Paula Radcliffe on 20 January 2023.
