From British championships to middle distance IRONMAN, there was plenty of multisport fun in the sun over the weekend.

British Aquathlon Championships – Eton Dorney Tri and Paratri Festival

Arctic One hosted the Tri and Paratri festival at Eton Dorney over that weekend that featured much more than the name suggested. The festival also played host to the British Aquathlon Championships, an event that welcomed some of the country’s very best in the sport to compete for the British crown.

Will Atkinson was the fastest overall on the course, racing in the M25-29 age group he crossed the line in 00:27:48 after completing an excellent swim in a time of 00:10:42. The fastest woman overall was Rosie Weston, who was the only women to clock-in below the half hour mark. Weston recorded an 00:11:04 swim and 00:17:49 run racing in the F20-24 age group.

Mallory Park Sprint Triathlon – 2022 Europe Triathlon Sprint Triathlon European Championship Qualifiers

In Leicestershire, athletes were challenged to a fast-paced, traffic-free race that allowed the fastest in attendance to qualify for the 2022 Europe Triathlon Sprint Triathlon European Championships. The fastest times recorded on the legendry racetrack over the weekend were by Hugo Milner (M20-24) and Hayley Rigby (F30-34). Milner’s 00:13:14 run was the fastest recorded on the day.

Hetton Super Series Triathlon

Hetton, North Yorkshire welcomed Super Series seniors and juniors to swim, bike, run in open water and on closed roads. These races were separated into Mixed Junior (18-19) and Senior races in which athletes raced for points before taking part in a relay event. HETTON SUPER SERIES

The British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series provides up-and-coming athletes from across England, Scotland and Wales with the chance to compete against other high-performing athletes of their age in competitive races on a regular basis.

YOUTH & JUNIOR SUPER SERIES

The Senior Super Series focusses on providing high-level competitive racing opportunities for Senior and U23 athletes within the British Triathlon pathway, supporting them with events to take part in against athletes of the same level.

SENIOR SUPER SERIES

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire

With no pros on show at this event made only for age groups athletes, Hugh Brashaw and Lydia Dant excelled across the middle distance to be the first man and woman across the line. Brashaw stopped the timer at 04:07:21 as he took the tape.

Despite falling behind to Matthew Nelson on the run, Brashaw clawed his way back to gold before Nelson followed him across the line two minutes later. Dant, racing in the F30-34 category finished with a total time of 04:30:33, with Elizabeth Duncombe following up 17 minutes later in the same age group.
