British athletes top podiums in France, Portugal and on home soil in more elite action from the weekend.

2021 World Triathlon Para Cup Besancon

Alison Peasgood was back to winning ways in France, dominating the PTVI race to finish in 01:14:19, two minutes ahead of Annouck Curzillat (FRA) in 2nd place. Guided by Hazel Smith, Peasgood was the quickest across all three disciplines, topping the podium with Curzillat and Ksenia Vibornykh (RUS) joining her following her across the line.

Claire Cashmore was also in winning form, following her silver medal at AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Para Series Leeds Presented by Volvo with gold at Besancon. Cashmore beat out Polish duo, Marta Dzieciatkowska and Monika Belczewska by more than seven minutes to take the tape.

Rhys Jones also travelled to France, racing in the PTVI classification. Jones finished in 9th place as the race was won by Spain’s Héctor Catalá Laparra.

2021 Europe Triathlon Cup Coimbra

Sophia Green saw gold in Portugal this weekend as she finished ahead of Spain’s Cecilia Santamaria Surroca and Melanie Santos who raced on home soil. Green added to a growing medal tally for 2021 that already includes bronze at both the 2021 Europe Triathlon Cup Dnipro and Sospan Sprint Triathlon Llanelli.

Green was joined on the start line by compatriot Hollie Elliot, who crossed the line in the top ten, finishing in 7th place with a time of 00:57:09. Annabel Morton and Ellie White were also part of the roster, Morton finished in 38th place whilst White ended her race with a DNF.

In the men’s race, Cameron Main secured a top ten finish when he crossed the line four seconds ahead of Lukas Hollaus (AUT). Main was joined by compatriots, Jack Willis (17th), Cameron Harris (23rd), Frederick Webb (28th), Oliver Turner (35th), Guy Evans-Haggerty (38th) and Sam Hart (DNF).

2021 Eton Dorney Triathlon

The PTO-funded race at Eton Dorney welcomed athletes to race across a 1.8km swim, 60km bike and 15km run to compete for the £12,000 prize. Lucy Charles-Barclay topped the podium after completing the race in a time of 2:41:20. She was joined shortly after by Lucy Hall in 2nd place and Nikki Bartlett in 3rd.

In the men’s race, Thomas Davis was the fastest athlete on the course. Recording a time of 02:31:21, Davis was joined on the podium by Leon Chevalier (FRA) and James Teagle. Britain’s Tom Bishop crossed the line in 4th place and Joe Skipper rounded out the top five.

2021 World Triathlon Cup Huatulco

Britain’s sole representative in Mexico, Gordon Benson, joined 59 others in a competitive field that saw Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk take the tape. In a close race, Benson finished 13th, just seven seconds after the top ten and less than thirty seconds away from the podium finishers.

IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman

A number of British age group athletes travelled to Cambridge, Maryland to take on the 70.3 IRONMAN. Those racing included Mark Adams who registered a 3rd place finish in the M55-59 division. The results from across the Pacific can be found on the link below.
