Catch up on the weekend action that put age group racing in the spotlight


Triathlon England champions crowned, athletes qualified for World Triathlon Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships, the Welsh Triathlon Super Series continues to entertain and more middle distance action from the weekend.

A world championship qualifier, Triathlon England Championships, Welsh Triathlon Super Series and middle distance IRONMAN races combine for an age group racing weekend to remember. 

Woodhorn Museum Triathlon – Triathlon England Standard Distance Triathlon Championships and World Triathlon Standard Distance Triathlon World Championship Qualifiers 

VO2 Max Racing Events, delivered excellent age group racing as participants raced to be crowned Triathlon England Standard Distance Triathlon champion as well as competing to qualify for the World Triathlon Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships. 

Triathlon England Championships and World Triathlon Championship Qualifiers represent the top level of amateur competition in Britain, giving participants the opportunity to be crowned national champion and qualify for the Great Britain Age-Group Team respectively. 

The grounds of Woodhorn Museum, saw age group athletes enjoy the surrounding coastal routes of Northumberland to compete across standard and sprint distance triathlon, aquabike and relay. In the standard distance triathlon, Oliver Teenan and Samantha Rose recorded the fastest men’s and women’s times at 02:06:19 and 02:25:44 respectively. 


Pembrokeshire Coastal Triathlon – Welsh Triathlon Super Series Stage 1

The first stage of the Welsh Triathlon Super Series produced swim, bike, run action through Pembrokeshire Coast National Park as this three-time Welsh Triathlon Event of the Year winner saw athletes compete for glory before moving onto Porthcawl Standard Triathlon for the next stage. Alex Matchett was the fastest of the men on the day whilst Catherine Marks recorded the fastest time of the women on the course. 


IRONMAN 70.3 Ecuador 

Manta, Manabi welcomed middle distance swim, bike, run for British athletes racing within their age groups. Athletes took on an ocean swim before transitioning into a largely flat course as they raced alongside the beaches to the finish line. 


IRONMAN 70.3 Musselman 

Geneva, New York State also played host to age group IRONMAN racing. Seven British athletes across various age groups set out on a swim through Seneca Lake, followed by a cycle and run across the rolling hills of Ontario County.
