Paralympic silver medallist and recently crowned ETU European Champion, Lauren Steadman (PTS5), continued her winning form after a seven month break from training following the Paralympic Games.
Steadman said: "It was a really hot day and the focus was on testing the body core temperature throughout the race to see how I would cope at such intensity. After seven months out, training has picked up and I'm really pleased."
The second gold medal was won by current Paralympic Champion handcyclist, Karen Darke, in the wheelchair (PTWC) category as she looks to secure a place on the Scottish team for the Commonwealth Games next Arpil.
George Peasgood continued to demonstrate performance gains this season with a silver medal in the men's PTS4 category. Peasgood commented: "The heat has been a big issue for me in the past and I came to this race to try to find out about how I react to hot conditions. I'm happy with the result, especially the learning involved with racing in the heat considering Tokyo will be similar."
Unfortunately, both Alison Patrick, guided by Nicole Walters (PTS5) and Ryan Taylor (PTS3) didn’t finish their races in the Italian heat.
