Down Under for the World Paratriathlon Series opener

Published:

Michael Taylor makes his World Paratriathlon Series debut this weekend as the 2020 series kicks-off in Devonport, Australia.

Taking place in the north of Tasmania, the athletes will take on a 750m sea swim before taking on a six-lap, 20km bike ride and a two-lap, 5km run on the waterfront. This scenic course will see the athletes keep the waters of the Bass Strait insight throughout the race.

Taylor will be the sole athlete flying the flag for Great Britain in Australia in this season opener. Racing in the PTS4 category, he will be up against the top three from the 2019 Paratriathlon World Cup event at the same venue.

Having been added to British Triathlon’s World Class Programme for 2020, the 24-year-old will be keen to make an impression in the first World Paratriathlon Series of the decade.

Devonport is the first event of the three-race-series which will also see athletes compete in Yokohama, Japan in May and Montreal, Canada in June.
