Elite triathlon and paratriathlon taking place this coming weekend

World, European and IRONMAN racing light up this weekend with elite action.

AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Leeds

Elite triathlon and paratriathlon is set to take place on British soil this weekend at a festival of triathlon in Yorkshire. Based entirely in and around one of Europe’s largest city parks, Roundhay Park, the likes of Alex Yee, Sophie Coldwell, Claire Cashmore and Dave Ellis are all set to race on home soil as AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Leeds returns.

2021 Europe Triathlon Cup Dnipro

Harry Leleu, Cameron Main and Jimmy Kershaw opt to swap the British sunshine to travel to Dnipro, Ukraine. Both Leleu and Main competed last weekend at Olsztyn, Poland, finishing in 7th and 12th place respectively. Kershaw, on the other hand, competes at the European Triathlon Cup for the first time this year. The British athlete finished in 6th place at the 2019 GBR Sprint Triathlon National Championships.

Sophia Green is the sole representative for Britain in the women’s race. Green has had an active year in 2021, securing bronze at the Sospan Sprint Triathlon Llanelli before achieving a 6th place finish in Poland last weekend. Green takes to the start line in a competitive field including Yuliya Yelistratova, who races on home soil and Xisca Tous (ESP).

Sarah Thomas is the only British pro set to compete in the Asia-Pacific Championship at Cairns, Australia. Thomas will be joined on the start line by various athletes from the continent, including Amelia Watkinson (NZL) and Renee Kiley (AUS).

There are also a number of age group athletes competing at various IRONMAN events at Hawaii, South Africa, Virginia and Queensland.
