Ben Dijkstra and Bethany Cook both narrowly missed out on medals at Europe Triathlon Cup events as they finished fourth at their respective Premium Cup and Junior Cup events in Hungary.

Closer to home, there were British champions crowned in both paratriathlon and aquathlon, while the latest event in the Welsh Triathlon Super Series was also held.

Europe Triathlon Premium Cup Tiszaujvaros (16-17 July)

Ben Dijkstra was the highest placed British athlete at Europe Triathlon Premium Cup Tiszaujvaros as he repeated his fourth-place finish from Holten two weeks ago to round-off another strong performance and earn a large haul of continental cup points.

Chris Perham and Hamish Reilly both joined Dijkstra in the men’s final after successfully progressing through the semi-finals, with the racing in Hungary split over two days with the semi-finals on Saturday and then the final on Sunday – both contested over the sprint distance.

The semi-finals included a race win for Reilly and top-three spots for Dijkstra and Perham, while Jack Stanton-Stock missed out on a final place after finishing 20th in his semi-final.

In the final, Dijkstra led the British athletes in fourth, eight seconds off third, with Chris Perham crossing the line 13th and Hamish Reilly 19th.

Annabel Morton was the sole British competitor in the women’s race and, after securing her place in the final with a 10th place finish, Morton was unfortunately disqualified in the final.
