France, Mexico and Portugal host more elite multisport this weekend

Claire Cashmore, Alison Peasgood, Gordon Benson and more British athletes take on swim, bike run across Europe and the Americas.

2021 World Triathlon Para Cup Besancon

On the back of a spectacular silver medal following a sprint finish to beat out the USA’s Grace Norman at AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Para Series Leeds Presented by Volvo, Claire Cashmore travels to France in search of more medals. This weekend will pit Cashmore against Polish duo, Marta Dzieciątkowska and Monika Belczewska in the PTS5 classification.

Alison Peasgood was also amongst the medal haul in Leeds last weekend, taking bronze with guide Nikki Bartlett. Peasgood will compete in the PTVI race in France, guided this time around by Hazel Smith.

Rhys Jones completes the list of British athletes travelling across the Channel. Guided by Rhys James, Jones joins a competitive start list including Spain’s Héctor Catalá Laparra and Thibaut Rigaudeau (FRA) who finished 2nd and 3rd at AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Para Series Leeds respectively.

2021 World Triathlon Cup Huatulco

Gordon Benson is the only British name on the start list in Mexico. Benson joins a 63-man field, including Crisanto Grajales who will race on home soil. Benson’s last 2021 World Triathlon Cup performance saw him register a 6th place finish in Lisbon, taking on the likes of Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) and Jonas Schomburg (GER).

2021 Europe Triathlon Cup Coimbra

Plenty of British athletes will be on show in Portugal this weekend. Jack Willis is the first name on the start list after most recently finishing in the top five at the Europe Triathlon Cup Olsztyn. Oliver Turner also raced at Olstyn, finishing 27th.Cameron Harris, Guy Evans-Haggerty, Sam Hart and Frederick Webb are all set to race in the Triathlon Cup for the first time this year.

In the women’s race, Sophia Green continues a busy year of racing following a bronze medal in Ukraine last weekend. Ellie White, Hollie Elliott and Annabel Morton join Green on the start list. White achieved a 5th place finish at the GBR Sprint Triathlon National Championships in 2019, whilst Elliot and Morton begin to move from junior European Cup racing to elite.

IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman

Five British age group athletes make the start list of this middle distance race in Cambridge, Maryland. Louise Hyde, Adam Gainey, Piers Ronan, Graham Sweetman and Stephanie Pattinson will all represent Great Britain across the Pacific.
