From Horwich to New Forest, here’s what happened at the weekend’s events

Published:

Last weekend saw a wide range of events take across England to offer multisport action in a variety of forms, from challenging middle distance triathlons to entry-level GO TRI duathlons.

Known locally as 'The Race to the Pike', the Horwich Triathlon is one of the oldest triathlon events in the region, dating back over 25 years.

Despite this year’s event taking the form of a duathlon, the event still followed much of the same course as the original with a 40km cycle followed by an 8.6km run that has participants climb to the summit of Rivington Pike before making the descent to reach the finish at Horwich Leisure Centre.

The event also allowed clubs to score points in the Epic Club Championships with points scored by having more competitors in the event and achieving the highest finishes. This year, Bolton Triathlon Club were named triumphant with five men and six women racing. As a result, the club can now choose up to four charities to split a £1,000 donation between.
