GB Age-Group Team return with large medal haul from Bilbao

Great Britain ended the European Multisport Championships with over 180 medals including Chris Perham winning the European elite aquathlon title and a medal haul of over 175 medals for the GB Age-Group Team.

The final British and Scottish champions of 2022 were also crowned, while the Welsh Triathlon Super Series hosted its final event of the year.

The medal successes for the Great Britain Age-Group Team continued over the weekend as Great Britain ended the week-long event with over 180 medals.

After success earlier in the week in duathlon, cross duathlon and cross triathlon, there were more medals for the GB Age-Group Team in aquathlon, aquabike and middle distance triathlon.

Thirty five medals were won in aquathlon, 25 in aquabike and 22 in middle distance triathlon as the GB Age-Group team ended the week with 55 golds, 67 silvers and 57 bronze medals overall.

Alongside more than 1,200 Age-Group Team athletes representing Great Britain, there were also elite, U23 and junior races. Chris Perham became European elite champion in aquathlon with Jimmy Lund also finishing in the top-four in the elite men’s race to claim silver in the U23 category.

Earlier in the week, Isla Hedley added the European junior cross triathlon title to the world gold she won earlier in the year, while Adrian Howden won duathlon gold in the men’s PTS4 and Solomon Okrafo-Smart claimed silver in the junior duathlon.

2022 British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships

The final set of British champions in 2022 were crowned at Outlaw X which hosted the British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships.

Twenty-two athletes earned the honour of winning British Championships gold with pro triathlete James Teagle and female 25-29 British champion Megan McDonald securing the overall race wins.

One of the stories of the weekend was in the male 45-49 age group as Donald Brooks completed the set of British titles in 2022 having already won duathlon, aquathlon, sprint and standard distance triathlon golds this year.

2022 Scottish National Duathlon Championships

Scottish national titles were decided in duathlon as the University of St Andrews Triathlon Club hosted the final Scottish National Championship race of the 2022 season.

Nearly 150 athletes raced over the run, bike, run format with 22 national titles and over 50 medals awarded across the age groups. The full list of medallists can be viewed here.

2022 Welsh Triathlon Super Series

The 2022 Welsh Triathlon Super Series came to an end in Llandudno as the North Wales coastal town hosted the sixth and final stage of this year’s national series.

Athletes have competed in events throughout the year over three sprint and three standard stages, earning points towards their overall total. Llandudno was the final opportunity for athletes to earn points, with their best four results across the series counting towards the final total.

Prizes are awarded for the overall series winners in each age group as well as clubs who gain points for every nominated athlete who finishes within the top-60 places within their respective age group.
