Great Britain Age-Group Team qualification events confirmed for ITU Aquathlon World Championships

British Triathlon is pleased to confirm the three Great Britain Age-Group Team qualification events for the 2013 London ITU Aquathlon World Championships.

This year’s ITU Aquathlon World Championships is provisionally scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11 September 2013, the first day of competition at the PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final London.

The three successful events:
 
Box End Aquathlon organised by Galeforce Events on 5 May 
Crosby Lakeside Aquathlon organised by MerseyTri on 19 May
RedVenom.co.uk / Tri-it Aquathlon organised by RedVenom.co.uk/ Tri-it on 25 May
 
The event will see the world’s top athletes return to Hyde Park for the first time since the London 2012 Olympic Games and also provide the rare opportunity for age-group athletes to compete in front of their friends and family and showcase Britain at its best.
 
Tony Weed of RedVenom.co.uk/ Tri-It commented: “We are proud to have been selected by British Triathlon to host an ITU Aquathlon World Championships qualifier at Hetton Lyons Park, County Durham on Saturday 25 May.  The course consists of a two lap 750m swim and a four lap 5km run and will create a great spectacle for competitors and spectators alike."
 
Ian Braid, British Triathlon Director for Major and National Events commented: “These three events will create a great experience for every athlete who will be aiming to qualify for the Great Britain Age-group Team.  Each event has demonstrated the highest quality event management and will ensure athletes’ first steps to Hyde Park in September, will take place in a safe and enjoyable environment.”
 
To be eligible to compete for the Great Britain Age-Group Team athletes must register their intent to qualify on the British Triathlon website no later than 5pm on the Friday before the qualification event. For more information, please visit www.britishtriathlon.org
