It was a successful weekend for the Great Britain Age-Group Team who returned from Germany with 16 medals including six golds at the 2022 Europe Triathlon Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon Championships Alsdorf.
A total of six gold, two silver and eight bronze medals were won by the 64 athletes who represented Great Britain over the 10km run, 60km bike, 10km run distance in Alsdorf, Germany.
Mick Anglim became European champion in middle distance duathlon for the third time taking his total of gold medals at World and European Championships to 11 with victory in the male 75-79 age group.
Alongside veterans of the GB Age-Group Team, around half of the team in Alsdorf were representing Great Britain for the first time.
There was a debut victory for Ben Goodfellow, who not only won the male 25-29 age group, but his winning time was the fastest of all the age groups and would have seen him finish fifth in the elite men’s race.
Lizzie Rawson (F25-29), Sally Silsby (F50-54) and Mary Reeves (F60-64) also all became European champions at their first international event, while Sarah Attwood won her first international gold in the female 40-44 age group.
