With the countdown to the Paralympic Games underway, we spoke to some of the paratriathlon team heading to Tokyo, as well as Paratriathlon Team Leader, Jonathon Riall, and ParalympicsGB Chef de Mission, Penny Briscoe.

Tokyo is the second time that paratriathlon has been included in the Games having made its debut in Rio five years ago.

This year’s team includes three medallists from Rio in Lauren Steadman, Alison Peasgood and Melissa Reid; Dave Ellis and Claire Cashmore who are making their paratriathlon Paralympic debuts having both previously competed in para-swimming; Michael Taylor and Fran Brown who head to the Games for the first time; and George Peasgood who will be racing in paratriathlon and para-cycling in Japan.

Joining the eight athletes are three PTVI guides, Hazel Macleod, who guided Alison Peasgood to silver in Rio, will race alongside Reid, with Nikki Bartlett guiding Peasgood and Luke Pollard continuing his partnership with Ellis.

Get ready for the paratriathlon action in Tokyo on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 August at 10:30pm BST by listening to the podcast below.
