How to watch and follow World Triathlon Championship Finals Abu Dhabi

The best paratriathletes and triathletes from around the world will descend on Abu Dhabi this week where this year’s world titles will be decided at World Triathlon Championship Finals Abu Dhabi including the World Triathlon Para Championships.

Here’s everything you need to know about the event…

What is World Triathlon Championship Finals Abu Dhabi?

The World Triathlon Championship Finals is the crown jewel of World Triathlon’s annual calendar and will be held in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island from 24-26 November 2022.

The multi-day triathlon festival will see world champions crowned in elite triathlon, paratriathlon, Under 23s and across the age groups.

Starting with the World Triathlon Para Championships on Thursday (24 November), Abu Dhabi will also host the final races in the 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series, along with the World Age-Group Championships in super-sprint triathlon, standard distance triathlon and aquabike.

When are the races?

Thursday 24 November

4am – World Triathlon Para Championships

8:45am – Age-Group Super-Sprint Triathlon

Friday 25 November

3:30am – U23 Women

6:15am – U23 Men

9:06am – Elite Women

Saturday 26 November

4:45am – Age-Group Standard Distance Triathlon

6am – Age-Group Aquabike

11:06am – Elite Men

How can I watch and follow the racing?

As with all the World Triathlon Championship Series races in 2022, live coverage will be available across the BBC’s digital platforms including live race coverage on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

Highlights of both the women's and men's World Triathlon Championship Series races will also be shown on BBC Two on Saturday (26 November) at 17:10.

Who will be representing Great Britain in Abu Dhabi?

A British contingent of 29 athletes will race for the prestigious title of World Champion across triathlon, paratriathlon and Under 23s.

The team includes a mix of experience from Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth medallists to athletes representing Great Britain for the first time at a World Championships.

Over 290 British Triathlon Home Nation members will also be representing the Great Britain Age-Group Team at the World Age-Group Championships for super-sprint triathlon, standard distance triathlon and aquabike.

What’s coming-up in 2023? Will I be able to watch the world’s best race in Britain?

British Triathlon’s major event calendar for 2023 will again see the world’s best triathletes and paratriathletes heading to Britain to race next year.

The British leg of the World Triathlon Championship Series will be hosted in Sunderland for the first time with Roker Beach providing a stunning setting to watch the world’s elite triathletes compete along the Sunderland seafront on 29-30 July 2023.

There’s even opportunities to take part in your own swim, bike, run challenge over the weekend in the mass participation events across the standard and sprint distances, and the BIG Swim Bike Run. Book your place to be part of the action on Roker Beach here.

World Triathlon Para Series Swansea will return for its second year after the success of Britain’s first standalone WTPS event in 2022. The world’s best paratriathletes will be back in Swansea on 15 July 2023 at an event which will also include participation opportunities. More information can be found on the event page here.
