Jess Learmonth was named the ETU Female Athlete of the Year 2017 at the ETU’S President Gala on Saturday 10 March, and there was future recognition for technical official, Sarah Taylor-Hough.
This year’s ETU Presidents’ Conference was hosted by the Russian Triathlon Federation in Moscow, and included the 2017 ETU European Triathlon Awards. There was recognition for Jess Learmonth after winning the ETU senior title last summer and Sarah Taylor-Hough for her efforts and achievements as a technical official.
Jess Learmonth picked up the Female Athlete of the Year award after a breakthrough 2017 in which she became ETU European Champion in Kitzbuhel in June as well as making it onto her first ITU World Triathlon Series podiums in Stockholm and Rotterdam. She finished the season as the highest placed European female in the WTS rankings.
There were firsts for Sarah Taylor-Hough in 2017 as she became the first ever European female to take charge of a WTS Grand Final. Sarah was awarded the ETU Technical Official of the Year.
Andy Salmon, CEO of British Triathlon said: “Having celebrated International Women’s Day last week, it was wonderful to see two British women pick up prestigious ETU awards over the weekend. They have both achieved firsts in their careers; Jess getting on to the World Triathlon Series podium and Sarah as a Technical Delegate at the ITU Rotterdam World Championships.”
