Team England Commonwealth Games athlete Sophie Coldwell competed as part of the Loughborough I team in 2017 and said "It was just an amazing race last year, probably the crowds would be the thing that stuck out for me most and they were unbelievable lining the course the whole way round supporting and pushing on the teams."

Chris Perham, produced the fastest leg of any male in the 2017 race and added "This event is definately something that everyone looks forward to because its one of the only chances to represent the centre as a team. You're all there for the same goal to do well for the centre to give something back, and perhaps pick up a few bragging rights over teams as well!"

The triathlon centre at Loughborough is an integrated centre with World Class Programme Olympic and Paralympic athletes training alongside a university performance group, with the athletics union student club below that accounting for well over 100 triathletes as a whole on campus.

Alison Wyeth, Director of the Loughborough Triathlon Performance Centre commented "The LTPC as it's known is about 25 athletes in total. Students in the performance group here are very lucky to get a full menu of support services such as strength and conditioning, nutrition and lifestyle advice from the from university support staff, to build a programme that's hopefully going to support them onto the World Class Programme in the future."
