Major event volunteer opportunities open for 2023

Volunteering opportunities for British Triathlon’s major events in 2023 are now open, offering a great opportunity to be part of and contribute to the success of Britain’s two world-leading triathlon and paratriathlon events.

Next year will see World Triathlon Para Series Swansea return to South Wales on 15 July, before Sunderland hosts the World Triathlon Championship Series for the first time later that month, over the weekend of 29-30 July.

Both events are now open for volunteers to register to be a Tri Maker, with a range of roles available from engaging with spectators, working with media, and marshalling routes as the athletes compete.

Alongside the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of the event, there’s also the chance to develop key personal skills like teamwork, customer service and handling positions of responsibility.

Jonny Hamp, British Triathlon’s Director of Events, said: “Our events wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of Tri Makers each year, who not only help to make the events happen, but also ensure great experiences for everyone involved, from participants and elite athletes to coaches, spectators and the media.

“Volunteering will not only let you experience an event like you’ve never experienced before, but we always receive really positive feedback about the valuable and rewarding experiences volunteering at our events provide.

“I’d like to say a big thank you in advance to all the Tri Makers who register to volunteer in 2023 and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you to our events.”

Both 2023 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea and 2023 World Triathlon Championship Series Sunderland form part of British Triathlon’s major events strategy announced in October 2021.

Elite paratriathlon racing will return to Swansea for its second year as the city again welcomes Paralympic, World and European champions to the World Triathlon Para Series event.

World Triathlon Championship Series Sunderland is a new event for 2023 and will see thousands of participants swim, bike, run across two days of action, and will also feature the world’s best triathletes racing along the Sunderland seafront in the elite races.
