The Olympics isn’t the only swim, bike, run action that’s been taking place recently, with a number of Brits racing at IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia.
Max Stapley was the highest placed Brit as he raced his way to the top step of the podium.
The Brit, who has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2024 season in short course triathlon, was the first out of the water in Poland with a 33 second lead over Italy’s Michele Bortolamedi. He was equally as quick on the bike as he put in the second fastest time to stay in the lead.
While his competitors took time out of his lead, his advantage was too big for it to matter as he crossed the line almost five minutes clear of Sweden’s Gabriel Sandoer in second. Denmark’s Anders Toft Nielsen completed the podium.
Louis Buttrick was eighth as he made the top ten alongside Thomas Davis (ninth). Andrew Horsfall-Turner was the fourth Brit across the line finishing 13th. Harry Palmer recorded a DNF, dropping out on the swim.
In the women’s race Rosie Weston finished seventh as the sole Brit in the race.
