Medals across the distances for British athletes

It was medals galore for the Brits this weekend, from the shortest distance at supertri Boston up to the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 races.

supertri Boston 

With the supertri League getting up and running in the US this weekend, the men’s race saw Alex Yee once again pass Hayden Wilde in the closing stages with a sprint to the tape to take the win in the first race of the league. 

Connor Bentley finished eighth, whilst fellow Brits Hugo Milner and Max Stapley finished 10th and 13th respectively.

In the women’s race, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Kate Waugh finished second and third respectively. Luxembourg’s Jeanne Lehair took the win, having used her Short Chute to get back in the game before pulling clear of the two Brits and USA’s Taylor Spivey (fourth). 

Jess Fullagar (sixth) and Olivia Mathias (seventh) were the other Brits in the top ten, whilst Olympic bronze medallist, Beth Potter, finished 12th.

World Triathlon Multisports Championships Elite Duathlon 

The World Triathlon Multisports Championships got underway in Townsville, Australia with Age-Group and Elite athletes representing Great Britain. 

In the elite individual races, Phoebe Barker claimed fourth place and Chloe Dooley 12th in the women’s race, with James Hodgson also finishing 12th in the men’s race. James Philpott crossed the line shortly after him in 15th. 

In the 2x2 relay, Hodgson and Barker teamed up to win silver, finishing close to a minute behind the winners Team France, with a similar gap to Team Japan in third.

2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Hradec Kralove 

Laura Addie secured second place at IRONMAN70.3 Hradec Kralove in a time of 04:10:30. The Brit crossed the line four minutes after home athlete Petra Kurikova as the Czech athlete completed the course in 04:06:20. 

In the men’s race, Joshua Lewis finished nineth as he completed the course in 03:49:57. His time splits were 00:22:25 on the swim, 01:57:09 on the bike, and 01:25:07 on the run. 

 

IRONMAN Frankfurt 

Kieran Lindars took home silver from Germany as he crossed the line in 07:32:14, finishing five minutes behind race winner Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR), and a minute and a half ahead of Italian Gregory Barnaby in third. 

All three had similar times across the swim and bike, however it was Blummenfelt who was able to kick on in the final discipline to run his way to gold.
