The Great Britain Age-Group Team are continuing to end the year on a high with medal successes at the World Triathlon Age-Group Championships Abu Dhabi.
Over 290 athletes from across the age groups are representing the GB Age-Group Team in the super sprint triathlon, standard distance triathlon and aquabike events in Abu Dhabi.
They joined thousands of age group athletes from over 50 nations in the Parade of Nations hosted along the Yas Bay Waterfront on Wednesday evening before the first of the three age group races began on Thursday with the super sprint triathlon.
The super sprint triathlon was hosted for the first time at a world level for age group athletes in Abu Dhabi, and the GB Age-Group Team won four golds, three silvers and three bronze medals.
On Saturday, there were eight gold medals, five silvers and eight bronzes for the GB Age-Group Team in the standard distance triathlon including golds for Donald Brooks (M45-49) and Richard File (M75-79) who completed the super sprint and standard distance double.
In the aquabike, the GB Age-Group Team won 14 medals overall, with five golds, six silver and three bronze medals, bringing their overall total in Abu Dhabi to 45 medals (17 golds, 14 silvers and 14 bronzes).
The World Triathlon Age-Group Championships brings to a close the international age group season in 2022, and the qualifiers being held in 2023 for athletes wanting to represent the GB Age-Group Team in 2024 have already been announced.
