Meet the Coach Development Team

Published:

The Coach Development Team are responsible for supporting triathlon coaches across the UK. With the team growing and with ambitious plans, find out more about who they are and what they do.

Who are the Coach Development Team?

The BTF Coach Development team is made up of Paul Moss (National Coaching Manager), Elly Knight (Coaching Admin) and Louis Richards (Coaching Programmes Manager). The three of us are responsible for supporting over 3000 registered coaches, and developing the coaching workforce.

Luckily we aren’t alone. We are also supported by the Home Nations in the form of Giles O’Brien (Coach Education Manager, England), Doug MacDonald (Coaching Development Officer, Scotland), Andrew Deans (Development Manager, Wales) and of course we also have our coach tutor work force.

What do we do?

The vision for Triathlon coaching in the UK is to create a world-leading system that will establish a network of inspired and inspirational high-performing triathlon coaches at all levels across Great Britain, which will maximise performances of triathletes and paratriathletes from grassroots to the podium.

There have been a number of developments over the last few years to take us closer to that vision. This includes the development and launch of the Coach Mentoring Programme, the continued development of The Coaches Hub, and the creation of the unique KAIZEN coach development programme.

Whilst it is important to reflect on what we have done, we are looking to the future to see what else we need to do to better support coaches. This has led to the expansion of the coach development team and subsequently the ability to plan and deliver a whole range of new initiatives in the coming months and years.

If you would like to find out more about each member of the team then have a look at the team profile here.

The 2015/16 coach education course dates for England, Scotland and Wales can also be found here.
