2021 Europe Triathlon Cup Melilla | Elite Men
Grant Sheldon is Great Britain’s sole representative in Spain, taking on a 750m swim in the Mediterranean Sea before a beach transition takes the athletes through a flat, four-lap bike course across 4.7km. After athletes transition for the second and final time, they will complete a 2.5km, two-lap run before crossing the finish line.
Sheldon reached the podium twice in 2019, taking 3rd place at both the Weihai ITU Triathlon World Cup and the Karlovy Vary ITU Triathlon World Cup, sharing the podium with fellow Brit, Samuel Dickinson in Czech Republic.
The SLT Arena Games Powered by Zwift also travels to Rotterdam this weekend, with both triathlon and paratriathlon races taking place. View the event preview here.
Yorkshire Duathlon
This run, bike, run includes the Standard Distance National Championships, the ETU Championships Qualifier and the Sprint Distance ITU Worlds Qualifier.
Croft Motor Racing Circuit welcomes multisport action this weekend, with the sprint distance race taking advantage of the circuit to create a fully closed-road course. The sprint is a world championships qualification race, across a 5km run, 20km bike and final 2.5km run.
The standard distance race will take place over a 10km run, 40km bike and 5km run and will act as both the Triathlon England National Championships and a European championships qualification race.
In line with Covid-19 regulations, both sprint and standard distance races will be non-drafting races. You must be a British Triathlon member to qualify for world, European, or national championships.
Thames Valley Spring Duathlon
Dorney Lake welcomes athletes this weekend to a variety of races, giving participants the choice of either super sprint (2.5km run, 10km bike, 2.5km run), sprint (5km run, 20km bike, 5km run) or standard (10km run, 40km bike, 5km run) duathlon.
Racing around the flat and smooth perimeter of Dorney Lake, this race takes place amongst picturesque parkland near Windsor, including an arboretum and nature conservation area.
Exeter Sprint Duathlon
This brand-new event for 2021, organised by Tough Runner UK, takes athlete on a run, bike, run through the Escot Estate. Welcoming seasoned athletes and beginners alike, this duathlon boasts a fast course across two 5km runs and an 18km rural cycle.
British Triathlon has developed specific Covid-19 requirements focused on the practical implementation of the key government measures of social distancing and increased hygiene. The above permitted events have demonstrated their application of these additional requirements.
