New opportunity announced for qualified triathlon coaches

Published:

'Strength and Conditioning for Triathlon Coaches' announced by the Coach Development team as a new CPD workshop for triathlon coaches.

The workshop is being developed by British Triathlon in conjunction with Stephen Breisner and Ian Pyper who, as part of the EIS team, are the lead Strength & Condtioning (S&C) Coaches for British Triathlon's Performance Programme. Both Ian and Stephen bring a wealth of experience to the project, as well as the exciting prospect of opening up the skills and knowledge that make our performance program so successful, to all British Triathlon Coaches.

Stephen commented: “Within our roles at British Triathlon we work with a wide variety of coaches and athletes. The interest in strength and conditioning is increasing all the time, so when we were approached about creating a Strength and conditioning workshop as part of the coach education programme it was a great opportunity to help support the development of coaches knowledge base.

"The workshop will help coaches develop a greater understanding of the strength and conditioning process, with the overall aim of providing them with the tools to start implementing targeted programmes to athletes of all ages and abilities.”

The S&C workshop will become the third official British Triathlon Coaching CPD Workshop to take place, adding to the Club Head Coaches and Open Water CPD workshops.  Development will take place over the summer of 2016 and will made available to triathlon coaches from October 2016 onwards.
