NIU UK announces Official Partnership with British Triathlon

NIU UK will provide electrified two-wheel support for event staff, coaches and officials during a fully charged calendar of events across the British Triathlon programme.

The partnership between NIU and British Triathlon is founded on their shared trajectory to reduce the environmental impact and increase long-term sustainability of UK sporting events.

British Triathlon have established a sustainability commission to help shape a sustainable future for the sport, and both the governing body and NIU UK share the belief that events themselves should reflect the lifestyle values which athletes at all competitive levels strive to uphold.

NIU UK bikes were used at AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds, one of the organisation’s flagship events, as it became the first event to be awarded the gold standard of World Triathlon’s Sustainability Certificate.

With electric scooters on-hand, the British Triathlon team can provide rapid support across their event locations, using the lightweight and compact form factor to gain easy access anywhere on the course.

Drew Irvine, Brand Manager, NIU UK, said: “We’re really excited to become part of one of the UK’s fastest growing and most accessible sports.

“Being able to offer the opportunity to support the athletes and the event staff who bring together the triathlon community is something which NIU UK takes great pride in being part of.

“Triathlon is a sport which empowers environmentally conscious lifestyles, so reducing the environmental impact that the support vehicles create is key to NIU UK’s and British Triathlon’s mission to create long-term sustainability in the sporting events space.”

Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, said: “As the national governing body, we have a crucial role in modelling sustainability in swim, bike, run, and partnerships like this one are key to that.

“NIU UK’s bikes provide a very practical function in helping us to deliver events and continue to build on the success of AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds in achieving World Triathlon sustainability gold standard.”
