There’s no let-up in the swim, bike, run action with racing again this weekend across the different multisports and distances.
Super League Triathlon Championship Series Toulouse (2 October)
After a week’s break, Super League Triathlon returns with the penultimate round of this year’s Championship Series in the French city of Toulouse.
Georgia Taylor-Brown has been one of the standout stars of the series so far and, after battling back from a bike crash to place third last time out in Malibu, the defending champion currently sits second in the women’s individual rankings, only one point behind series leader Taylor Spivey of the USA.
Sophie Coldwell will return to the Super League start line after missing Malibu and is currently ranked fifth overall, with Beth Potter, Non Stanford and Kate Waugh also in the top-10, although Stanford will not be racing in Toulouse. Sian Rainsley and Sophia Green will also be ones-to-watch.
Jonny Brownlee is the highest-placed British male in seventh overall and will make his return after illness ruled him out of the last race. Dan Dixon is only one place behind Brownlee and the 20-year-old arrives in France off the back of his best SLT performance to date, placing fourth in Malibu.
Chris Perham will also be back in action a week after becoming European aquathlon champion.
The format will revert back to ‘Triple Mix’ – the same format raced in London – with the three disciplines of swim, bike, run being raced in a different order in each of the three stages.

Asia Triathlon Cup Aqaba (1 October)
Iestyn Harrett is the sole British representative racing at Asia Triathlon Cup Aqaba in Jordan.
Harrett has a number of top-10s to his name already in 2022, including 9th in the elite men’s race at the Commonwealth Games where he was also part of the silver medal winning Team Wales mixed relay team.
The racing will take place over the standard distance of a 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run centred in and around the coastal city of Aqaba.
XTERRA World Championship (1 October)
The stunning but rough terrain of the Brenta Dolomites in Trentino, Italy, is the challenge awaiting athletes competing in this year’s XTERRA World Championship as swim, bike, run goes off-road.
Great Britain will be represented in the elite races, and it’s a championships which has seen plenty of success in recent years. Lesley Paterson has won this race three times, finished second five times and will again line-up on the elite women’s start line, as will Daisy Davies.
Davies, who finished second at XTERRA Belgium earlier this year, was second overall in this year’s British Triathlon Senior Super Series which also saw her win silver at the British Elite Triathlon Championships in Sunderland.
Alex Rhodes will race in the men’s elite event having won multiple medals at age group level before going onto compete as an elite athlete.
Athletes will face a 1500m swim in Lake Molveno, a 30km mountain bike that climbs into the Dolomites, followed by a 10km trail run which twists through forest trails and the lake shore.

GB Age-Group Team Qualifiers
With only a few opportunities left to qualify to represent the Great Britain Age-Group Team at World and European Championships in 2023, the focus is on the run, bike, run format of duathlon.
There are two opportunities at Thruxton Duathlon this weekend with their sprint and standard duathlon events qualifiers for next year’s World Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships and World Standard Distance Duathlon Championships, respectively.
Oulton Park Duathlon also presents a chance to qualify for the 2023 European Standard Distance Duathlon Championships.
Grafham Duathlon is the final qualifying event of the year later this month, but there are plenty of opportunities to try and qualify in 2023 with next year’s calendar already announced for anyone looking to represent the GB Age-Group Team in 2024.
