After the success of their Easter challenge, Castle Triathlon have launched their very own virtual racing series. Inspired by the host countries of each Castle Triathlon Series event, the series began with the French ‘Vive La France’ event in April.
The series features various duathlon and run events, with the opportunity for participants to win a spot at the top of the leader board.
This weekend will bring the virtual series to the UK with the ‘VE Day 75th Anniversary’ event on 8-10 May. There will be a choice of seven different duathlon options, as well as three running events and three cycling events.
Events range from middle distance races consisting of a 21.1km run, 90km cycle and 10.5km run, to starter races that cover a 2.5km run, 10km cycle and final 1.25km run. There are also events to keep the children busy, with three junior duathlons taking place across different age ranges.
The series is accessible to all skill levels and participants do not need a treadmill or turbo trainer to take part. The event organisers are encouraging participants to think up creative ways to complete their race, saying: “We’re looking forward to seeing, running in the garden, down the corridor or even stair running and cycling leg exercises.”
Progress will be tracked over the weekend, with a leader board determining who will be crowned triumphant in a live prize ceremony on the Castle Triathlon Facebook page.
A community driven event, Castle Triathlon said: “We and your fellow participants are counting on your integrity and honesty when timing each leg and submitting your results.”
The Virtual Series isn’t just encouraging friendly competition throughout these unprecedented times but is also fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.
With 20% of every entry fee will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, each participant will be helping Macmillan provide physical, emotional and financial support to those living with cancer.
The Castle Virtual Series is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy being active in these difficult times, being able to socialise and exercise your competitive muscles from the comfort and safety of your own home.
