The focus will not just be on the Elite athletes who will return to action following the Tokyo ITU World Olympic Qualification Event, but also on the Juniors, U23’s, Mixed U23-Junior Relay as well as the Paratriathletes. And there is the small matter of hundreds of Age-Group athletes who will be in Switzerland in a bid to be crowned Age-Group World Champion in their category.

Elite

In a season where USA’s Katie Zaferes has dominated the women’s calendar, Great Britain’s female athletes will be just as determined to end the World Triathlon Series season on a high.

Both Jessica Learmonth and Georgia Taylor-Brown have had an impressive and consistent 2019 with Learmonth currently second in the World Triathlon Series rankings and Taylor-Brown third. Learmonth has been on the podium three times this year with Taylor-Brown having secured her first World Series win in Leeds.

Non Stanford stormed to World Series gold in Hamburg and will head to Lausanne with plenty of optimism. Reigning ITU World Champion Vicky Holland will be in Lausanne as will Sophie Coldwell and Beth Potter, who made her World Series debut in Edmonton.

Jonny Brownlee will look to continue where he left off after a memorable win in Edmonton where he won his first World Series gold medal of 2019. Alex Yee will be aiming to win a third World Series medal this year with Tom Bishop also competing in the Elite men’s race.

U23/Juniors and Mixed U23-Junior Relay

A seven-strong U23’s British squad will head to Lausanne confident of challenging for medals.

In the women’s race, Kate Waugh will be aiming to win her third medal of 2019 having won bronze at the Nur-Sultan ITU Triathlon World Cup and silver at the Malmo ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup. Olivia Mathias and Sophie Alden, both medallists in Olsztyn this year, will also be representing Great Britain.

Having won gold in the Seniors/Juniors men’s race at Parc Bryn Bach and part of the winning British Mixed Relay team in Nottingham, Ben Dijkstra will arrive in Switzerland in fine form. Dijkstra will be joined by fellow Brits Barclay Izzard, James Teagle and Harry Leleu on the start line.

In the Junior women’s race, Sophia Green will be in Switzerland on the back of winning the Junior women’s title at Parc Bryn Bach. Olivia Matthews will also have medal ambitions following a third-place finish overall at Parc Bryn Bach in the Seniors/Juniors women’s race.

Marcus Dey and Toby Osman will be competing for Great Britain in the Junior men’s race with Dey taking gold in the Junior men’s category at Parc Bryn Bach and Osman winning silver.

After finishing in a bronze medal position in last year’s Mixed U23-Junior Relay race, Great Britain’s Relay team will once again be looking to be in amongst the medals this year.

Paratriathlon

Great Britain’s paratriathletes will also be in action in Switzerland looking to build on their performances from the Tokyo ITU Paratriathlon World Cup.

Joseph Townsend H2 will go in the PTWC men’s race with Jade Jones-Hall H2 the only British representative in the PTWC women’s race.

Andrew Lewis, a gold medallist at this year’s Besancon ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, will be Britain’s sole male in the PTS2 men’s race with Fran Brown competing in the PTS2 women’s race.

Hannah Moore will be aiming for another gold in 2019 as she will be racing in the women’s PTS4 classification and Steven Crowley will race in the men’s PTS4 category.

Lauren Steadman, the reigning ITU PTS5 World Champion, and Claire Cashmore, gold medallist in Yokohama and Montreal this year, will be representing Great Britain in the PTS5 women’s race with George Peasgood the only male Brit in the PTS5 men’s race.

Dave Ellis B3 will be in Lausanne on the back of a win in the PTVI men’s race in Montreal. Melissa Reid B3, gold medallist at last month’s Magog ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, and Alison Peasgood B2, silver medallist at the World Paratriathlon Series in Montreal, will be racing in the PTVI women’s race.

Age-Group

Taking to the course of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Lausanne, over 630 British Age-Group athletes will battle it out in Switzerland over Sprint and Standard distances in a bid to be crowned Age-Group World Champion.

There will be strong British representation in all the Age-Group categories from 16-19 all the way through to 80-84.

Christina Durbin will be youngest British Age-Group athlete competing in Lausanne with Judith Mackay the oldest British Age-Group athlete racing in the F80-84 Sprint race.
