Plenty of elite swim, bike, run to enjoy as SLT enters its second event, GB athletes compete on the international stage and middle distance triathlon offers more thrills.
Super League Triathlon Championship Munich 2021
With the first of four back-to-back events in the past and points now on the board, SLT Munich is set up for more high-octane elite action as athletes compete in the equalizer format at Munich’s Olympiapark.
With SLT traveling to Germany for the first time this weekend, athletes will compete across two stages. Stage 1 sees athletes race one discipline (bike) across an individual time trial. Following this, time trial results will be used to determine when athletes will set off for Stage 2, a six-leg enduro race (swim, bike, run x2) which features a pursuit style start.
In addition to the above, if an athlete falls behind the leader by more than 90 seconds, they will be eliminated from the race. There is also a short chute on the course that will be awarded on the first swim.
British women dominated all three steps of the podium last weekend in London after Jess Learmonth stormed to victory followed across the line by Georgia Taylor-Brown in 2nd and Vicky Holland in 3rd. Taking the tape saw Learmonth secure the maximum 15 points as Taylor-Brown earned 14 and Holland 13.
Sophie Coldwell, Beth Potter and Non Stanford also took on the triple mix, finishing 5th, 7th and 15th respectively.
Athletes representing Great Britain in the men’s racing will be Jonny Brownlee and Alex Yee. Brownlee claimed his place on the podium when racing in London last weekend. Battling with Vincent Luis (FRA), his race resulted in 13 points being added to his leaderboard tally.
Alex Yee finished in 5th place when racing at Canary Wharf, taking 11 points in the process.
In the overall team standings, Tim Don’s Eagles are currently in front with 93 points. The top three of the leaderboard is completed by Scorpions (71) and Sharks (66) as Rhinos occupy the bottom on 35.

2021 World Triathlon Cup Karlovy Vary
The Czech Republic will welcome a number of British athletes this weekend. Grant Sheldon heads the men’s start list for the British athletes. Sheldon has raced at Karlovy Vary once before, competing in 2019 where he reached the podium alongside compatriot Sam Dickinson (1st) and France’s Raphael Montoya (2nd).
Jack Willis joins Sheldon on the start list, heading into the weekend with two top-five finishes at Europe Triathlon Cup races this year. Harry Leleu will also line up after taking 2nd place at Europe Triathlon Cup Dnipro in June this year.
Cameron Main and Barclay Izzard will round out the start list for the men’s race. Main joined Leleu on the podium at Dnipro whilst Izzard joined Georgia Taylor-Brown, Jess Learmonth and Alex Yee to take bronze at the Hamburg ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championships last year.
Sophie Alden and Sophia Green will also be racing in the Czech Republic. Alden recorded a 3rd place finish in her semi-final heat at the Europe Triathlon Sprint and Relay Championships Kitzbühel where she shared the podium with Germans Lisa Tertsch (1st) and Laura Lindemann (2nd).
Green took the tape earlier this year at Europe Triathlon Cup Coimbra when she finished fourteen seconds ahead of Spain’s Cecilia Santamaria Surroca to secure gold following a bronze medal at Dnipro the week before.
IRONMAN 70.3 Nice
Four British women and two British men grace the start list for IRONMAN 70.3 Nice. India Lee approaches the race after taking silver at Challenge Riccione in May this year. Lee shared the podium in Italy with Sarissa De Vries (NED) and Marta Bernardi (ITA).
Fenella Langridge also races in France having raced last weekend at Challenge Roth and occupying the third step of the podium with a finishing time of 08:27:04. Chantal Cummings will join Langridge having also raced last weekend, taking on the half-iron distance in Poland to return home with a silver medal.
Ruth Astle is the final British name on the women’s start list. She returns to racing following a gold medal-winning performance at Outlaw Holkham saw her top the podium ahead of Kim Morrison and Claire Weller.
Adam Bowden will race after finishing 5th at IRONMAN Bolton in July in the men’s race. He will be joined by Will Draper who has achieved two top-five finishes this year, including a 4th place finish at Outlaw Holkham, crossing the line in 3:59:00. Liam Lloyd is the final British name on the start sheet. Lloyd returned to racing last month following injury, defending his Welsh standard distance title.
Challenge Herning
The Danish city of Herning welcomes athletes to take on a 1.9km lake swim, 90km cycle and final 21.1km run to finish in Herning city centre. Sam Wade who raced at Outlaw Holkham, finishing in 3rd place, will race at Herning and will be joined by Finn Arentz who finished in 7th place at Outlaw Half Nottingham, crossing the line with a time of 04:01:04. They will be joined by David Brewer and Warren Sutton who are also set to feature for Great Britain.
British Triathlon Super Series Grand Final
The British Triathlon Senior, Para and Youth and Junior Super Series’ will reach their conclusions this weekend. The final races of the series’ will take place at Leicestershire’s Mallory Park and will determine the overall champions. The Grand final will also host TriStar 2 an 3 athletes at the Inter-Regional Championships.

2021 World Triathlon Long Distance Championships Almere-Amsterdam
The World Triathlon Long Distance Triathlon Championships Almere-Amsterdam see a wide range of athletes on the start list to take on a two lap 3.8km swim, two lap 180km bike and six lap 42.2km run.

Over thirty British athletes are featured on the start list to swim, bike. This aquabike championship event will see athletes compete across the same swim and bike course as the long distance triathlon with the victor being crowned at the end of the 180km cycle.
Challenge Almere-Amsterdam
Middle Distance Challenge Almere-Amsterdam
A further twelve Brits will take on the open series middle distance at Almere-Amsterdam, competing across the same course as long distance athletes with half the amount of laps. This race will therefore comprise a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run.
