GO TRI Active sessions are a great way to build confidence in triathlon, with GO TRI Active Introduction to Open Water Swimming at Bicester Performance Lake the first one back since activity resumed.

With qualified coaches and sessions plans tailored towards helping you start your swim, bike, run journey, GO TRI Active sessions are specifically aimed at helping you learn the basics and give you the confidence to join a club or take part in a local event.

GO TRI is British Triathlon’s introductory programme of activities, with local organisers hosting GO TRI Events and Active sessions across the country to provide accessible opportunities for newcomers to give multisport a go.

“We’re delighted that GO TRI Active sessions are returning,” commented Jenny Vincent, Head of Participation at British Triathlon. “When we launched GO TRI, it was with the aim of helping more people get active through the sport and it’s great to see GO TRI returning to local communities.

GO TRI Active sessions provide a fantastic first step in helping people get their triathlon and exercise journey off the ground and are a core part of our strategy of providing great experiences through swim, bike, run.”

The session in Bicester is being organised by Bicester Gym, and led by two British Triathlon qualified coaches.

Participants to the session will be briefed about open water swimming and learn about some swimming basics before entering the water to put what they’ve learned into practice.

Phil Downes, one of the coaches leading the session, said: “We’re running these GO TRI Active sessions to give people the opportunity to either try something new or have a go at open water swimming with a bit of guidance and the security of having some experts to boost their confidence.

“We’ve put in Covid-19 Secure measures, including 2m social distancing, on-site sanitisation, track and trace systems and temperature checks on arrival to help provide a safe environment for our participants.

GO TRI is a great way to get more people involved with the sport, and the perfect way to start your journey into something new. We believe that those who think “I can’t” will soon be saying “I can”.”

You can find GO TRI Events and Active sessions to help you in your swim, bike, run journey by signing up to the community. There’s also a wealth of online guides and top tips to taking part, plus, with over 25,000 members, the GO TRI community is a great place to be.
