We all know someone who regularly completes the most challenging triathlons, running daily before the sun rises, open-water swimming at the weekend and biking everywhere they go. Never thought you could do it? Well now there’s a way that you can get involved in the sport too.
The Accenture Mixed Team Challenge allows you to get to the finish line by competing in a mixed gender team of three. Whether taking part in a triathlon is a mutual goal for siblings, friendly rivalry between a group of mates or team bonding with colleagues, it’s the perfect way to encourage team work and champion men and women competing together.
It’s been scientifically proven that taking part in sporting activities as a team increases confidence, develops relationships and creates a sense of belonging. But most importantly, it’s much more fun to conquer the course together!
You’ll not only compete as a trio, training together is also a key aspect of creating a successful team. Team members will keep you on your toes from training to event day, providing you with that much needed motivation to ensure you’re race ready.
The Sprint Relay allows those who are less confident in completing a full triathlon to dip their toes into the sport, without the demand of mastering all three disciplines; each team member completes just one leg of the race, either swim, bike or run.
And for those wanting to test their fitness levels, creating a Tribe puts all three team members in the spotlight as they each complete the sprint distance triathlon. Emanating the spirit of the Mixed Team Relay featured in the Olympics, times will then be accumulated with the quickest overall time being crowned the winning Tribe.
Across events, the winning Sprint Relay and Tribe teams, will be announced at a prize giving, each member will be awarded with £100 Wiggle vouchers and all participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a bike worth £1500.
The Accenture Mixed Team Challenge is set to take place across seven fantastic locations across the UK, with the series reaching a crescendo at Canary Wharf on Wednesday 5 September. Here, competitors will be offered the rare chance to team up as a quartet and complete the elite format ‘mixed relay’, where each competitor will take on the mini triathlon course before tagging their next teammate to do the same. With two men and two women making up each squad, it’s set to be a night of non-stop triathlon action.
