Top clubs do battle in Banyoles

Published:

Last weekend (Saturday 4 September) saw some of the top triathlon clubs across Europe collide in a bid to become the ETU Triathlon Clubs European Champions.

Flying the flag for Great Britain were Aarragons Cumbrian Triathlon Club, represented by Vicky Johnstone, Sam Wilson, Stuart Robinson and Alastair Weymouth.

The quartet secured their right to compete at last year’s Triathlon Relays, and one year on were ready to take the stage in Banyloes, Spain.

Each team member completed the entire triathlon, before tagging the next competitor to take on the 300m swim through the Banyoles Estuary, 6600m bike around the coastline perimeter and 1600m run to the finish. Aarragons Cumbrian Triathlon Club finished in 15th place in exactly one hour and 33 minutes.

Poissy Triathlon (FRA) took the title, quite convincingly, in 1:23:32.
