Stockton Duathlon Festival

With two Age-Group qualifications taking place at the Stockton Duathlon Festival on Sunday, the North East hosted an opportunity for athletes who had registered their intent to qualify for either the 2020 ITU Standard Distance Duathlon or the 2020 ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships, with the sprint duathlon event at TriHard's Stockton Duathlon Festival also offering the chance to race the draft legal format used at ETU and ITU sprint distance championships.

The standard duathlon race was won by Beau Smith and Jenni Muston (Wakefield Triathlon Club) in times of 1:44:26 and 2:09:06 respectively, with Rodger Wilkins (Racepace) and Stephanie Maclean Dann (North Shields Poly AC) topping the sprint duathlon podiums after taking the tape in times of 56:42 and 1:03:48.

IRONMAN 70.3 Peru

Lucy Gossage finished just outside of the podium places in fourth, with a time of 4:16:50 over the 70.3 distance course in Lima, Peru. American Lauren Goss took the win in a time of 4:05:56.

Lucy commented on her instagram following the race "Overall a fun hit out at Ironman 70.3 Perú today. I finished 4th which is probably better than I deserved. I really enjoyed the swim and run. I was kind of laughing at the fact that I’d thrown myself into this before the start. I will always love racing. The bike was less fun. Partly because I’m not fit enough to ride hard - you can’t expect to ride fast without training fast and it’s less fun being in a race stuck in third gear. I like to smash the bike but today, unsurprisingly, I couldn’t."
