2019 Banyoles ITU Triathlon World Cup

A six strong British squad head to northeast Spain this weekend for the World Cup circuit’s final European stop. Off the back of securing fifth place in the 2019 World Triathlon Series, Vicky Holland will lead the British charge in the women’s race alongside Beth Potter, who finished eighth in her last World Cup race, and Sian Rainsley, bronze medallist from the ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup in August. Wearing numbers 1, 17 and 58, the Brits will be up against a number of well-known international names including Kirsten Kasper (USA) and Laura Lindemann (GER).

Making its debut on the ITU World Cup circuit, Banyoles has attracted a strong field in the men’s race. Gordon Benson, Sam Dickinson and Morgan Davies will don the GB trisuit as they race against newly crowned World Champion Vincent Luis (FRA) and, second in the 2019 World Triathlon Series, Mario Mola. Dickinson claimed gold at the World Cup in Karlovy Vary last time out and will be looking to replicate that form in Spain.

2019 Banyoles ITU Paratriathlon World Cup

Sunday in Banyoles sees the Paratriathlon World Cup take over, with Bret Crossley and Kerry Large representing Great Britain. Crossley (Men’s PTWC), who secured British Paratriathlon Championship silver and British Paraduathlon Championships bronze earlier in 2019, will face a number of top ten ranked athletes in Spain. Large (Women’s PTS5) is the current British Paraduathlon Champion and will hope to translate domestic success into that on the international stage.

IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, Nice

The 14th edition of this Championship sees the racing head to the south of France where a number of British athletes will be aiming to top the podium and claim the World Championship title. Both wearing number two, Lucy Charles-Barclay and Alistair Brownlee will be aiming to secure the title in France ahead of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona in October.

Starting in the Mediterranean, athletes will be challenged by the Col de Vence, a category 1 climb that featured in the 2017 Tour de France, before returning to the coast to run along the picturesque Promenade des Anglais.

Other Brits on the start list include: Holly Lawrence, Emma Pallant, Adam Bowden and Elliot Smales.

2019 Zofingen ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships

Taking place in the north of Switzerland, this 10km run-144km bike-30km run duathlon sees Peter Ellis as the sole British athlete on the start list.
