IRONMAN Western Australia

Alistair Brownlee returns to IRONMAN after taking on his first World Championships in Kona. Brownlee swam strong and pushed hard on the bike, completing the race in a time of 08:25:03. He will be hoping for a repeat of his IRONMAN Ireland, Cork performance, which saw the two-time Olympic gold medallist take the top spot.

Brownlee will share the start line with Robert Brundish, who makes his debut in Western Australia, despite being a seasoned IRONMAN. He finished 5th at IRONMAN France earlier on in the year with a time of 07:33:59.

Several women are also representing Great Britain in the antipodes. Susie Cheetham will take the start line after a 19th place finish at Kona. She will race alongside three-time IRONMAN 70.3 champion Kimberly Morrison, as well as Sophie Bubb, who makes her pro debut in Australia. Katrina Matthews and Ruth Purbrook are also set to race. Purbrook gears up for her first pro IRONMAN outing.

The course features a swim close to the shoreline, a cycle through Tuart Forest, and a flat, four-lap run. Will Clarke, Edward Jennings and Thomas Bramah are amongst those competing in the M25-29 age group category. As for M30-34, Mike Huckle, Matthew Lloyd-Davies and Craig Llewellyn are also set for the start line.

Additionally, Ali King (M35-39), Neil Gyte (M35-39) and Mark Fisher (M45-49) will represent Great Britain. They will share the course with Mark Jackman, who competes in M40-44 and Amanda Borlotti, who will race in the category’s female equivalent. Finally, Tim Bowman and Lesley Jones will compete in M50-54 and F50-54 respectively.
