The international triathlon season is back up and running for 2018, starting with IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa on Sunday. Whilst 12 Age-Group athletes head to Romania to fly the British flag at the Winter Triathlon World Championships.

In just a week, Alistair Brownlee is set to kick off his 2018 amongst a large field at IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai and the following weekend (10th Feb), the action is back in South Africa again with Non Stanford and Vicky Holland due to take part in the first ITU World Cup of the year. But first here's what on this weekend!

IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa

Buffalo City, East London, is hosting the first IRONMAN event of 2018. Emma Pallant and Susie Cheetham fly the Great Britain flag. Athletes begin their race with a 1.2-mile ocean swim, followed by a challenging 56-mile bike ride across rolling hills. They finish with a 13.1-mile, run which consists of two laps with spectacular sea views.

Britain’s Jodie Swallow won this race for a seventh consecutive year last January, but is not racing following the birth of her son. Cheetham was second to her in that race.
