There’s a World Cup, European Cup and a host of National Championship events this weekend. It’s going to be a busy one!

New Plymouth ITU Triathlon World Cup, New Zealand

Since winning world junior silver in Rotterdam in September, Kate Waugh has based herself in New Zealand to take advantage of the southern hemisphere summer. She’ll start her 2018 season in New Plymouth on Sunday against an experienced line up of senior athletes including Kirsten Kasper (USA) and Andrea Hewitt (NZL).

Also featuring is Emma Jeffcoat (AUS), who won the ITU World Cup in Mooloolaba less than two weeks ago, Commonwealth Games bound Aussie, Gillian Backhouse, and WTS Abu Dhabi podium finisher, Natalie Van Coevorden (also Australian). There’s further depth in the shape of Summer Cook (USA), Ai Ueda (JPN) and former world champion and triathlon legend, Vanessa Fernandes (POR).

Ollie Turner goes in the Elite Men’s race as part of his preparations to race for Jersey in the Commonwealth Games. Still a junior, he faces an experienced field including Olympian, Ryan Bailie (AUS), and Canadian, Matt Sharpe.

Quarteira ETU Triathlon European Cup and Junior Triathlon European Cup, Portugal

Quarteria, on the southern coast of Portugal, hosts five Great Britain senior athletes including Chris Perham and Calum Johnson, who competed last weekend in Gran Canaria. They compete on Saturday and will be followed on Sunday by the juniors including Issy Morris and Cameron Main.

British Duathlon Championships, Bedford Autodrome

Bedford Autodrome hosts the British Elite Duathlon Championships on Sunday including senior, youth, junior and paratriathlon championship races for the third consecutive year.

Multiple IRONMAN winner and oncologist, Lucy Gossage, competes in the Elite Women’s Race, whilst the men’s field features several British internationals including Adam Bowden, David Bishop and Phil Wylie. Steve Crowley, who won a silver medal at the ITU World Championships in Rotterdam is set to compete in the Paratriathlon Duathlon Championships.

The youth and junior races kick off the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series for 2018, giving adding importance to good results on Sunday.

Alongside the Elite races, Age-Group athletes will compete for national titles in the British Duathlon Championships.

Scottish Age Group Duathlon Championships, Stirling Duathlon

Scottish Age-Group titles are up for grabs in Stirling on Sunday, as well as places in the GB Age Group team for 2018 and 2019. Youth and juniors also have their shot at glory in the sprint distance events. For more information visit Scottish Triathlon.

Welsh Duathlon Championship,

Keeping the theme, Welsh Age-Groupers can win Duathlon titles at Harlech Castle in North Wales on Sunday. Competitors will race along shorelines and around the castle grounds as they compete to be named Welsh Duathlon Champion. For more information visit here
